Navigate to the Barnes and Noble website using the link. Once you are there you can begin browsing for books or toys/games. Your task is to create a picCollage shopping cart! You each have $250 to spend on anything you want. The goal is to spend as close to $250 as possible without going over! Screen shot each item and put into your collage, along with the price and total of your shopping cart on the bottom! Happy Shopping!
Good Morning Super Students!
What a night! I am assuming, hoping none of you were up to see the final results of the election. I however, was drawn to the TV and couldn't sleep until I knew. We will take a closer look at just how Trump won a historic election last night and where all of those votes came from...because as we discussed the electoral college is very interesting! Student council this morning, dates are on the bulletin board. You may want to take a picture of the meeting days so you can remember when to go...better yet, set reminders! PROBLEM OF THE DAY Last night we saw Donald Trump win some states that were thought to be out of reach for his campaign: Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. By how many total votes did he win those 5 states? Good Morning World Changers!
Sorry the blog was not posted when you came in this morning, two sick kids + one dad = chaos! Thank you all for holding down the fort at school and helping make sure the classroom runs great today. You obviously know there is DARE and book checkout will be at 11:30. In math today, we will continue working on figuring out the GCF and LCM of a given set of numbers. I know Morgan took a picture of yesterdays notes on the board, smart thinking, you may need to ask her politely to email them to you :) You need to first complete the puzzles from yesterday. You can either glue it on a piece of construction paper OR using the PicCollage app, take a pictures of each individual piece and put it together on the app and save. Don't worry about week 10 homework, I will give it to you tomorrow and just make it due Friday this week...however, corrections were due today and late if turned in tomorrow. PROBLEM OF THE DAY Using the infographic below "Who actually votes in America" where it takes a look a little bit closer to who ACTUALLY votes in America. Because remember, just because you are 18 and a citizen, doesn't mean everyone actually shows up to the polls to cast their ballot. What was the difference between the percentage of men voters and the percentage of voters between the ages of 18-24? Remember, these percentages are based on people in those categories that are able to vote. The percentage, out of 100%, shows who voted in those categories, that number minus 100 would show who did not vote! Meaning...in Minnesota last election 75% of people voted that could. Leaving only 25% of people that chose not to vote, that highest in the country #minnesotarockedit Good Morning World Changers! What a beautiful weekend to get out and enjoy this great Fall.
A few reminders going into the week: if you have any late work please get that in as soon as possible (ASAP)! Book checkout will be tomorrow, bring your late books from home in before Ms. Opatz has to send home reminders :) We will also have a half day of school on Friday to recognize Veterans Day. Picture retakes will also be this week...I need to check the day for sure. It is either tomorrow or Wednesday, I will let you know before the end of the day. If you wish to retake your pictures you need to bring in the originals. If you were absent you will also need to take a pictures because it is for the year book. PROBLEM OF THE DAY With the election just 24 hours away, it's on everyones mind! Use an electoral college map to determine the number of votes that Donald Trump would win if he won: Minnesota, California, Arizona, Alabama, Oregon and Kansas. Good Morning Super Students!
Happy Friyay and a beautiful one it is shaping up to be. We will have Friday Fun this afternoon, as long as you have all your assignements in and caught up from last week you should be good to go! I will run through the list of kids again this afternoon, if you are curious take a look at my clipboard and try and figure it out! Logic is at 8:40 this morning for those of you that it pertains too...have fun! Book orders are also due. If you have money please put that on my table NOT THE INBOX! PROBLEM OF THE DAY Do yesterdays (see yesterdays post) Today marks our first opportunity to use the Makers Space area in the media center. Please remember the expectations Ms. E has set for us: clean up, 0-1 voice, problem solve independently, check-in/out on the iPad minis, and we can keep using the space every Thursday.
9:00 - 9:20: Anthony, Matt, Campbell, Maya 10:40 - 11:00: Danny, Bella, Ciarra, Kaden 1:20 - 1:40: Joey, Nadia, Morgan, Alex 1:40 - 2:00: Bonus Time (Strack, Pakkala, Hiedeman, Schiffler in that order) Problem of the Day What was the difference between Ken Griffey Jr.'s average his rookie season in 1989 and his last year in 2010? Good Morning Future World Changers!
Thank you all for a great Tuesday! Everything we have been discussing and trying to work on as a class has really come together! I can tell you are all at least thinking about walking quieter in the hallways, building stamina during math, being prepared as you leave and come back to class! It's paying off...let's keep moving! Today is one of our leadership groups at 8:00. Please don't forget to leave your WIN class for that. PROBLEM OF THE DAY Research how many countries there are in the world. You may stumble upon different answers as countries are always changing leadership; but use the first answer that you find. If you were going to try and visit every country in the world, how many years would it take you if you visited 10 countries a year? What about 15 countries a year? What would be the first country you visit? Good Morning World Changers!
Happy Tuesday and November! I am fairly certain I heard on the news last night that is has the potential to be the warmest Fall in over 100 years...get outside and enjoy it! We have book checkout, please put your books on the cart by the door before WIN class. We also have DARE this morning at 8:40 so no need to take your books to WIN, come back here after. PROBLEM OF THE DAY Pretend your entire family (everyone currently living in your home) decided to travel to the "Minnesota Zoo” in Apple Valley, MN.. Research the cost of tickets at a website similar to this: http://mnzoo.org/plan-your-visit/ Find out how much it would cost for every member of your family to get into the zoo.. Your family has decided to save/budget for the tickets for the month of November before they go. How much would they have to save each day the entire family to attend? |
