I think it wasnt a folly. They said it could have a big impact on the fishing and logging industries. They said they had evidence of gold. And oil is one of the biggest industries in Alaska. That why I think it wasnt a folly

I think it was a folly to give away Russia because it said. "They would surely want to expand to the north to fulfill their manifest destiny" and, "Seward was eager to buy. They quickly agreed on a price of $7.2 million, about two cents an acre They quickly agreed on a price of $7.2 million, about two cents an acre. As it turned out, the Czar would have agreed to $5 million, but Stoeckl was a smart bargainer. He was also a sharp politician. He spread lots of money among Washington's powerful politicians to help the process. It seems his effort paid off. The U.S. Senate quickly approved the treaty on April 4, 1867. But it passed by only one vote." Because he spent several millions of dollars on it.

I meant more I think it is a folly. Because they said it's cold there. And that it's pretty much all snow and ice. And they kept spending a bunch of money on wars and other stuff. So yeah i think it was a pretty dumb idea, but i guess people like it there and people live there and thats what makes them happy.

I think that it was a good idea beacuse then more people would get supplies qickly . They are close to the place they want to become friendly . Plus they can get supplies from the Pacific coast . I like the idea of byeing Alaska

I belive it was a good idea. The reason behind that is because people would get their supplies even quicker before. They want to become closer to others to become friends. They can get supplies from the pacific coast.

I think that they should have a alaska and it wasn't a foolish move. I think this because, they talked about how alaska was a natural resource to oil and fishing. If we didn't have alaska we wouldn't have some tv shows either. The fish population would probably not be as high as it is if we didn't have alaska.Moliters would be out of buissness because they get their fish from alaska. We also would not be able to afford some things for our country either like ipads because they city grants them money and parents get money and states give money to the united states, which gives minnesota money. then sauk rapids which is some of the reason how we get our ipads. Overall, we need alaska in our country if it wasn't for alaska there would be no fifty nifity.

I think the buying Alaska was not a folly.Alaska had gold in the 1880s and 1890s making people rush to Alaska to get some gold. Alaska has national parks that house grizzly bears, eagles, whales, and more. Alaska is known for the places to fish which is a kind of food that is more or less popular to eat. Oil is one of the largest indestries in Alaska which is a resource we as people are running put of. There are some things which were not a good idea but there are a few pros of buying Alaska.

I think it was not a flock, beacuse from buying alaska he earned a lot of money and there was tons of resources there. Such as gold, and iron who knows maybe more than that! Also i think the purchase or how much it cost, was a very great purchase. To sum it all up IT WAS GREAT!

It wasn't a folly because everybody knew Alaska has a lot of money and a lot of land to give. You could tell because when he wanted to buy land he wanted to sell it for 7.2 million dollars it was 2 cents an acre which menas he bought a lot of land.

I think it was not a folly. I think it isn't because in the text it says that everyone wanted gold because they found a gold rush in California, but in Alaska they found some gold. They never explored the whole interior so Alaska could hold more treasure. Another reason why i think it wasn't a folly is because people thought Alaska was just a piece of junk, but none even knew much about it. They think that there will be not much treasure, but there is a lot of undiscovered land there. These are all reasons why i don't think it was a folly.

I think it was a folly because Alaska had a tiny bit of gold. People would think the " Sewards Folly " was a bust and no one would care about anything. It didnt have that much gold and they would have to make money by diging and diging and diging for gold and that would take forever. That is why I think the Sewards Folly was a folly

I agree with Shaun because I don't think it is a folly because he did knew Alaska had a lot of land, so Alaska problably gets a lot of money. Plus they lost a lot of money between the war againest a buiness and lost a lot of their money. It is not folly because Alaska was considered a U.S. territory before it was officaly became the 49th state in 1959. But, any question about Alaska's value was forgotton after several major discoveries of fold during the 1880's and 1890's. That is what I think about why I don't think it is a folly.

Think it was good that they bought the Alaska because it's home for more people to live. It is also good that they bought that they bought Alaska because some people want to live there. Also because people like the snow. Some people like the snow. Thats why i think it was good that they bought Alaska.
