A quick reminder that we will be leaving for Deep Portage tomorrow at 8:30 sharp. Please make sure your child is on time to school. If they are not attending Deep Portage they must still attend school for the 3 days as they will have instruction with a substitute.
I firmly believe the key to any good outdoor adventure is packing a positive attitude, being flexible and packing smart! You don't want to over pack and carry a bunch of unnecessary gear but you also don't want to under pack and be miserable because your clothes are wet or not warm enough. check the weather often and pack accordingly. I will send home a weather update tonight or check it out below!

Good Morning Super Students!
The week is finally here! The long anticipated wait is almost over and we will be heading to Deep Portage Wednesday morning! I have already begun getting prepared at home. I have my sleeping bag, pillow, towels an rain gear stacked in my room. Yes, we will be finding out our bunk mates today at 1:40 so please refer to this blog post if you have questions :) Yes, you will be with at least one person from your notecard and no you may not switch groups unless there is an absolute problem! And yes, Wednesday looks like rain, bring some gear to match the elements. I would like ALL of you to go through your cubby and books bins and get rid of any garbage, papers..etc and once you are finished bring to me so I can attach your new number. I want to send out a huge congrats to Ethan, Kella, AJ, Owen and Alex for competing in this weekends Math Masters competition in Sartell. I know it was beautiful out and we were inside doing math problems but it shows your level of commitment to your education and you were handsomely rewarded, taking 4th out of 28 teams and only losing to the juggernaut Big Lake! Ethan, Alex and Owen also placed in different individual rounds! See instagram feed for pictures :) Good Morning Super Students!
Morning work...if you brought in a name for the Walk for Life campaign, the bags are in and can begin to be decorated. They are on my desk, grab 1 bag per person and begin decorating this morning. If a friend doesn't mind you help you can all help each other out! Alas, we are just about finished with math and reading testing...a few people will finish today at 10:00 with Ellen. Congrats once again to AJ for placing in the Benton County Soil and Water essay contest. This weekend a few of your classmates will be putting there math skills to use at the Math Masters competition on Saturday in Sartell. Ethan A, Alex, AJ, Owen and Kella will be competing, please give them a huge "GOOD LUCK" before the weekend! Tomorrow is #earthday and another Walk for Life fundraiser day. Because we will be gone next Friday, we are going to do a 2 for 1. Bring in $1 for either extra free time or popcorn or $2 for both! Good Morning Super Students!
I have a little task for you this morning! Reading an article for information and then doing a little math involving that article! Navigate to SeeSaw and read the baseball article I sent you! I would then like you to find the information about where it talks about Story's pitches in the zone and how it has fallen. What is the difference between pitches in the zone now compared to the beginning of the season. *Hint it's a subtracting decimal problem! Make sure you iPad is charged and headphones checked! Good Morning Super Students!
Todays is Monday, Don't forget to be awesome! We do have testing at 9:20 again and we need to make sure we have pencils, headphones, scratch paper and iPads above 40%! To test your headphones, I would like you watch/listen to this video! I love the ending, it talks about opportunity and how we approach it and grasp it! Find the link here! After you have watched it...please write your reaction to the video in the comments section...how will you seize this opportunity you have been given?? Good Morning Super Students and Parents! Lots going on in p5 over the next few weeks!
REMINDER - tonight is the parent meeting for Deep Portage here at PV in the media center at 6:00. Ms. Froiland and I will be here to go over expectations and answer any questions or concerns you may have as a family. Rox Reading program underway! Your child should have brought home a St. Cloud Rox (baseball team here in town) reading calendar. The expectation is to read 210 minutes per week (30 min/day) to qualify for the weekly prizes. If they read and turn in their weekly calendar for 4 consecutive weeks they will automatically qualify for 2 free Rox tickets. Walk for Life Fundraising! Our annual Walk for Life campaign kicked off this week and students should have brought home their bottles to begin collecting coins. We are creating inspirational posters in class to display and motive during the month. If you have any pictures or names of people who have past away, are currently fighting or have beat cancer please send them in as we are putting together a slide show to display during our walk. Also, students that bring in $1 (or any amount) on Fridays will have certain incentives during the day on Friday. Alex's Lemonade Stand! We have studens from CBU and SJU doing a business and marketing plan with students to help raise money for cancer as well. Please take the time to ask your child about it as it's for a super good cause! We will be selling Lemonade next Wednesday during lunch hours, April 20, if you'd like to come purchase some or make a small donation. MCA Testing! Our first week of testing is almost over. We took the reading test this week and your kids have done awesome! They have truly worked hard! Next week we take our math test and I look forward to the opportunity to show the world what we have been working so hard on! Please help your child get a good nights rest and maybe eat some breakfast. Good Morning Super Students! Another amazing day in central Minnesota! The weather is suppose to be beautiful the next few days. We have our second opportunity today to show the world what we are made of! Please see the list below from yesterday and check batter power, brightness, grab breakfast...etc Also, I found an interesting 14 minute TED talk about procrastination that actually celebrates it :) Please watch and listen, especially about the monkey and the panic monster and how we as people can use it...be ready to discuss. Good Morning Super Students!
What a day! I am super stoked for you all to take your READING MCA test today and tomorrow! A few things to double check this morning: 1) iPad battery level must be above 40%. If it isn't ask a friend to borrow a charger IMMEDIATELY! 2)Turn your brightness to the desired level. Once you are in the test you can not change anything. 3) When we come back from Phy Ed, RESTART YOUR IPAD immediately. 4)Make sure you have a book or two at your table to read. That is the ONLY thing you are able to do once finished. 5)Choose a responsible spot to sit, I will reserve the right to move you if I feel it isn't a good choice 6)Double check you are on STUDENT WIFI Then just relax and do your best! I then want you to tell me what you are going to do today to "boil" to go the extra mile on the whiteboard this morning! Good Morning Super Students! Please begin your morning work as soon as you get into the room this morning. We are NOT going to be switching for our science/social time today. The reason being that we have the lemonade stand presentation at 1:00 and we would like to get a little math in. So, after WIN return to our classroom for 30 minutes.
