Proving that you can do anything

Zach Hodskins is a guard at Florida. He was born without one of his hands but has never given up his dream of playing basketball and is now doing it at one of the elite universities in the country. Proving once again class that you can really do anything if you are determined, set a goal and work hard for it. Don't ever let anyone tell you, you can't do something. See the vine video here of his first points as a college athlete

Good Morning Super Students, a bit slick outside! We will be going to the Toys For Tots store around 9:25 for about 20 minutes. Please have your money and total ready when checking out.

Those of you caroling on Friday to Good Shepard, it looks like it might be REALLY cold and possibly sleeting/snowing that morning. Please make sure you have hats, gloves and even boots that day as we walk down the street.

Second grade holiday program is Thursday morning. We will not have a chance to see the 3rd grade program, we assume that if you have family in 3rd grade you will get to see it with your family at night.

Good Morning Super Students, happy Wednesday! Another goofy day is upon us, as is the rest of the week. Today Miss Bila has her professor coming in to observe her and she needs her class after lunch. Meaning, we will have reading at 7:50 is morning, immediately following WAEL until 8:35. We will then have Art, DARE, Math, Lunch, Math again!

Continental Math League Practice
A journey between NYC and London takes seven days. Ships leave from both ports at the same time everyday. During the trip, how many other ships will a ship come across? This will require a crazy drawing, prepare to be challenged and push your thinking.

Good Morning Super Students, Lab day today! I forgot we switched our book checkout so that we would have time to complete the lab. We will find time later this week to sneak into the library for books. If you NEED one this morning you can stop on over and I am sure Ms. Optaz will help you :)

Science materials can stay with you at your desk as we will begin immediately after WAEL. Please glue your lab sheets into your science notebooks like we talked about yesterday. I will know who is ready and has read morning message when I see your notebook open to page 15 and your lab sheet is glued in!

Hour of Code

What is coding? Basically it is telling a computer what to do, giving it direction!

I will never forget my first experience with coding. I was in high school, Randy Moss was my favorite athlete and the Vikings had just drafted him. My friend and I were obsessed, we spent hours scouring the internet for anything that had to do with him. Then we asked the question, why can't all this randomness be in one spot. And thats when we taught ourselves how to create an internet page!

More to come....
