Summer is always a tough time battling with your student to continue reading. My suggestion is to pick a time of day like bedtime, to get them into a good routine. Rainy days, car rides and appointment waiting rooms are all good times to get those 15-20 mins of reading in. Our school once again wants to reward those students who consistently read over the summer. Your child brought home a reading calendar, write the number of minutes on the calendar and turn back into your 4th grade teacher next year for your reward! Remember, you're a fourth grader now so 200 mins is your goal, way less then our 400 min goal during the year:)
