Good Morning Super Students!
Unfortunately I am at home with sick kiddos and am sick myself but I will rest up and be ready to go on Monday! Again thank you for an awesome day yesterday and I hope you enjoyed the play!

Today, we have the UofM Raptor Center show at 9:50. Please sit in the back where we usually do for shows in the gym and remember to enter quietly to not fluster the birds! After the show Ms. Hendry will be doing a directed drawing with you, video taped by Mr. Parker! You will need a sharp pencil and blank paper for that. Maybe get that ready in the morning when you come in...help your classmates be prepared!

11:30 - 12:10 Scholastic News - Read the articles below, links are highlighted blue!
"A Big Deal" is an article from our most recent Scholastic news. You may read digitally or grab the paper copy (Wild Board on cover on my desk)

"Alaska Kids"

Please read the above two articles and respond in the comment section with your name attached to this question: “Do you think the Alaska purchase was a folly? Why or why not and provide text evidence to support your answer”

Type your answer in an app first and then copy and paste into the comment section just in case you don't finish before lunch and lose all your typed information. A great idea would also be to write in a notebook first.

You may do other research via google about the Alaska purchase 150 years ago to help support your answer. Answers should be in paragraph form and 5 sentences long:

Sentence 1 - Statement or what side of the argument are you on
Sentences 2-4 - 3 details or evidence statements supporting your opinion
Sentence 5 - Conclusion statement

Great Mail Race!

I received a letter late last week from Mississippi Heights who received a letter from a 5th grade class in Missouri randomly! The letter contained a questionnaire along with some information about their school and how they stumbled upon Sauk Rapids...quite amazing really. I learned that it is part of a much bigger and fun project called the GREAT MAIL RACE. The goal is to send 50 letters, 1 to each state and try to receive a letter back before the end of the school year.

Our goal today is to locate a school and 5th grade class in another state and begin that process! Click on the link below to take you to the website we will use to find an elementary school!

Good Morning Super Students! Today is a day 5, music practice! You only have a few practices left before your program! I also received confirmation that May 4-5 will be the music instrument testing.

This morning I would like you to hop on and play prodigy for awhile. I put on some new questions that involve variables that I would like to see us work on.

Good Morning Super Students and happy Tuesday! A big shout out to Campbell and wishing her a happy birthday. I am glad you could celebrate it with us during the school year.

A reminder that tomorrow is DARE graduation at 8:15 Am in the gym. Your families are all welcome and there is no need for a background check to come in for that, just if they want to spend lunch or more time with you. A few people have asked about going out to eat to celebrate, that is fine as along as they follow PV procedure and checkout in the office!

Thank you for an awesome day yesterday, it was an amazing way to start the week. I actually got in my car yesterday and said "man, I wish today would not have ended and we could have just kept working!" Everyone come get a PATH ticket by the whiteboard this morning, fill it out, write something POSITIVE that you did yesterday and bring to me to sign :)

Drinking Water Challenge

The March student and staff challenge is, can you drink enough water each day! Some of the things I have read say each person should drink half their body weight in water. Some studies say everyone should drink 64oz each day. Not one study is correct is what I have learned but what I have concluded myself is that all studies have one thing in common and that is drinking water is incredibly healthy. It keeps our muscles hydrated, detoxifies our organs and keeps us feeling refreshed. This month let's all try and drink a bit more water. You've seen me carrying my water bottle around to help remind myself that I need to take a sip! Click the picture to the left to take you to the district page where you can access your spreadsheet tracker.

Good Morning Super Students,
Just a reminder that tomorrow is Read Across America Day, have a book prepared (not on epic) that you can bring with you while we read in the hallway at 1:30.

In SCHOOLOGY, find the "Morning Work" folder and download "March Morning Practice" and start on DAY 1.

Reminder to parents, that middle school parent information night is next Tuesday evening at the middle school. They would prefer students actually stay home, we have a special day set up for them later!

Friday the 3rd will be the drive in movie at PV. The new release "Trolls" will be playing, food and beverage will be available for purchase.
